Dirt Everyday
Bill recently shared this with me and I am completely hooked.
It's called Dirt Everyday. It's a series of Youtube videos dealing with many aspects of off road.
Your host, Fred Williams is also the technical editor of Peterson's 4 wheel & Off Road magazine. He is very comfortable in his role as a host in front of the camera. As you know we are about real dudes doing real stuff. So it Fred. Can't wait to cross paths with him someday.
Enjoy this

John Calvin R.I.P.
Just heard that John Calvin, publisher of Dusty Times passed away last night.
It truly is a sad day in the off road world. John was one of the good ones. His passion for his monthly publication dedicated to the racer was incredible. Godspeed sir.

Peninsula Run
We're helping our friends at BILTWELL with a chopper run down the penensula. We started in Ensenada and are traveling the highway all the way to the tip behind the bikes in a chase van with the trailer. We have helped with logistics, fuel stops, and accomidations.
This may be an "on road" adventure but it's an adventure nonetheless.
Enjoy some of Baja's beauty.....

Lee and his EVO Sportster hardtail. Highway 1 on a rigid bike is a challenge.
Nice place to wake up.
We will add more photos when we complete the trip, until then adios!

The 4X4 Podcast
Being an avid "Podcast junkie" I recently discovered a podcast that you will not want to miss.
It's The 4x4 Podcast and it's hosted by two gentlemen Dan Cole and Derek. These two guys report on the latest happenings in the world of off road. Dan is in the Army and Derek is a teacher. Just two guys hanging out and talking about their passion. It's real.
Dan recently had the opportunity to run the 1000 in a class 7 through Hero off road. (more on that to come) Too bad I had not discovered this sooner or I would have made a point to meet Dan when I was down there. I know though, our paths will eventually cross because I can tell by his report on the race, that the Baja has put it's spell on him, he will be back!!!
Check out the podcast it really is informative, and entertaining.

Anybody want to go to Baja?
We are prepping for the next run. February 16-19-2013. That's Presidents day weekend so plan accordingly!
This run will start in San Diego Saturday morning.
Day 1
We will caravan down to Cuatro Casas Hostel. Once we arrive at the hostel we will check in and head South for a few miles along the beach just to shake down the rigs and have a little lunch.

Scuba Steve and Chuy from our last run
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast we pack up and run the highway North for a few miles then we will catch the Baja 500 race course East for about 25 miles into the town of Valle De Trinidad. We will turn South and run along the highway for just a few miles into San Matais. After lunch in San Matais we will get on the Baja 1000 race course through the pass down to El Diablo dry lake. Want to open her up and see what she's got? This is the place to do it. Flat out as far as the eye can see.
We will then turn our sights West toward the Sea of Cortez. We pick up a small part of the San Felipe 250 racecourse down the famed Z00 Road into the sleepy fishing town of San Felipe.
We will enjoy a terrific feast and great bench racing that night.

Good times!
Day 3
We wake up and have breakfast then leisurely head North and cross the border in Mexicali.
Can you imagine yourself on this trip?
Come along with us the only costs to you are accommodations, food, and fuel
Here is a link to the FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE you can find more info and RSVP there.
Feel free to call Matt or email info@camp4lo.com if you have questions.

Running the routes
The day after Christmas Bill and I loaded up the Taco and met Huber and Scuba Steve in his bitchen 4 runner at the border and headed for Cuatro Casas, to run the Camp 4lo day one part of the tour.
Mexico greeted us with a new port of entry. Now entering Mexico is even simpler.
Rain followed us most the way but as we motored South, Baja rewarded us with mostly sunny skies and low 70's temps.
We arrived at Cuatro Casas mid day, and as usual Richard, the proprietor greeted us with open arms.
We checked in, secured our gear, and found ourselves with a few remaining hours of daylight. We decided to run the beach route South for a few miles, to shake down our rigs and go for some Tacos down at the Pirate bar on Punta Camalu.
Scuba Steve wasted no time displaying how he got his moniker.
After some lunch we took a little run down on the beach South of Camalu. As the sun started to set, feeling good that our rigs were ready we turned around and motored back to Cuatro Casas.
Back at Cuatro Casas we enjoyed an epic dinner of Richards famous halibut tacos, some fire pit, a couple cold Pacificos, and great conversation about the day that was to come.
Morning greeted us with a great sunrise. Richard had the coffee hot and breakfast ready.
We hit the trail north toward Campo Corona then hit the beach again toward San Antonio Del Mar.
We spent some time on the dunes.
Airing down
Nothing but fun to be had on these dunes.
After the dune fun, we traveled East and met up with the Baja 500 race course.
Taco in 4LO getting some work done.
A little mud obviously does not bother Huber.
Steve negotiating the trail.
We traveled North up the coast toward Erindria and saw great vistas, challenging climbs, and fun overlanding.
Baja has something for everyone. There were plenty of either or's so any 4 x 4 can have fun over this terrain.
We continued on the Baja 500 course into Erindria then hopped on the pavement back to Cuatro Casas.
Richard had a nice dinner of scallops prepared for us. We enjoyed another nice evening around the fire pit where we exchanged recollections about the trail that day.
This was a great trip with some even better guys.

Feliz Neuvo Ano
That's Happy New Year for you Gringos!
We took a well deserved trip to a friends place in Mulege over the holiday. My daughter and I jumped in the Biltwell team van with Bill and his family 2 days after Christmas and stayed through the holiday.
2 days driving just to get there, 5 days in the Baja Sur sun, and 2 days to make it back. We enjoyed everything Baja has to offer and then some. Baja is so beautiful this time of year. The harsh deserts are mild and sunny, the sea of Cortez is mild, the cerveza is cold, and the people of Baja are just as gracious as ever.
Enjoy the photos....
Early morning sunrise on day 2 headed toward El Rosario

No bad days in mulege!

Team van on the new road from Gonzaga north. Only 20 miles left to pave before it's finished
We were on a panga touring around and came up on this pod of porpoise. AMAZING!

Mickey Thompson 1979 Baja 1000
I had the chance to meet and interact with this man during the MTEG days in the late 80's, working as a photographer during all those stadium races. Micky was in a word intense. Always moving, always plotting, always trying to stay in the lead. This also has plenty of other classic footage.
Take a few minutes and enjoy.
